During my own research on the leadership and how it is attained in different campuses in the country i decided to have a small interview with one of the student leader in Kenyatta university  Ruiru campus. Anthony is one one of he politicians in the institution and would like to share with us what he thinks of when it comes to politics in Kenyatta university  through an interview with me . This will help those students aspiring to become leaders in school to understand the qualifications and also know the challenges there leaders face in there call for leading others.

Carol: Who is Anthony?
Anthony: Am the deputy chairperson of Ruiru campus, a post that is earned automatic   because o being a running mate of the chairperson. Am also aspiring to become the chairperson of the campus after Dennis Kimani in the academic year 2017/2018.Am also a class representative .
Carol:What are the qualifications of one o become a contestant in student leadership council?
Anthony:For one to qualify to become a contestant, the academic progress is checked based on which post you want to vie for. Also he/she must be genuine at the time of nomination. At the executive post, one must be a Kenyan citizen, integrity in leadership and also discipline are fundamental.
Carol:How many elective posts are there in K.U?
Anthony:In K.U there are executive and congress posts. The executive posts consists of 15 elective posts.
Carol:How are elections conducted in K.U and how are winners announced to fellow students?
Anthony Mukunda incoming chairperson K.U Ruiru campus
Anthony:Elections are always done through voting using secret ballots presided over by the KUSA electoral commission.Other students are always updated on how the election process is going on through the projection of the event live from one strategic place. this usually takes place as the counting takes place in different polling stations which are the different satellite campuses and also the main campus.
Carol:What are some of the challenges student leaders face:
Anthony:Leadership is not a walk in the park as many people thinks. Challenges are part of our everyday life and whether we like it or not we must face them for us to become strong in future. Some of the challenges we student leaders face are intimidation from colleague students ,and at certain time threats from the management can become a big challenge to student leaders because the management interests should be given the first priority than anything else. Student leaders can sometimes also become a challenge when it comes to managing your academics and leadership and this is where imbalance comes in. You get some students giving one thing a priority than the other.
Carol:Lastly, what do u understand by the term leadership.
Anthony:Leadership is he ability to act as a role model in leading people, elevating and safeguarding their rights without demur.

potential denial

Many young men and women have leadership potentials that can help Kenya develop. But the university management desire for control of students affairs undermines their full potential of exercising skills .Young people need guidance and mentor ship as it helps more and the management should be in a position to do so.   I therefore encourage young people to take part in mentor programmers put in place by the management and even go to the extent of becoming leaders in those mentor ship groups and start guiding others about what is right and what is wrong. University students should even go around the secondary schools to advice the young youths in the better way of living and these can only be archived when the university management ca allow those who have these potentials to exercise it to there satisfaction

A LITTLE PIECE ABOUT PEACE(TO ALL COMRADES ESPECIALLY IN KENYA)

My fellow comrades including the university student leaders and also the management, here are the reasons why you don't need to die for any politician before, during and after the elections. politicians belong to one big family. they have there interest at stake, do not die for them especially when you having nothing at stake.

your vote that is your obligation and your weapon to peace. It is your constitutional right and also your democratic right to vote for your candidate of choice in whichever part of the country you are residing in. make the right choice.on the election date, wake up and go to your polling station ,cast your vote and go back home. The majority will have their WAY and the minority their SAY.That is the beauty of democracy .You do not owe anyone a duty to die.Value your life , if you are still alive you can be better than them. Say no to blood letting , say no to violence.Make a choice with your vote and GOD enthrone
the king.

universities are traditional seen as a free speech institutions where any person can express his or her freedom to the management in the way they want. This tradition has, however changed due the development in leadership in all campuses and Kenyatta university has not been left behind. This leadership is not attained through the selection of various individual but through the elections and this brings as to the campus politics. Campus politics is where by different individual who want to be leaders are given approval by the management and allowed to do there campaign within the school premises earging there fellow students to vote for them
through talking to them  , and also telling them about the improvement and the development they are capable of doing if given that chance
